In the next Senwes Scenario

A mind shift in agriculture!

Senwes Group Executive: Innovation and Integrated Solutions, Martin van Zyl writes about technological advancements. We also attended Agbiz Outlook 2019 where CEO John Purchase, who was one of the key speakers at the event, was honored by the French Ambassador.

In safety and security matters, we take a leaf out of Hartbeesfontein’s book and examine what they have been doing for years to sharpen safety in their area. Through their cutting-edge security shift, they have become market leaders in the field.

2019 also marks Senwes’ 110th birthday on 15 May which makes us one of the oldest agricultural companies currently in operation. This edition focuses on the highlights of the first 50 years.

We paid a visit to Brahman breeder Willie Jacobs who along with 2018 Hinterland National Handler of the Year, Barend van Staden, talked to us about mind shifts they have had to make in order to remain successful in their respective agricultural fields.

Our branch in Bloemfontein has also undergone numerous renovations recently. Branch Manager Gerhard and his team take us through all the exciting new improvements. We feature the Senwes sponsored Ottosdal Draf and trap, which celebrated its 26th anniversary on the 26th of January.

Our niche market focus falls on garlic farming and we visit Senwes client Pieter Maree who speaks to us candidly about the rewards and pitfalls of farming with garlic. Other regular features include the bimonthly grain articles, the popular hunting article, food for the soul, and in digital news, we give you 5 easy steps you can take to digital thinking.
